Hypnosis for Therapy

Hypnosis or a trance state is a natural state of mind. One we enter every day when driving, walking or reading. It is a heightened state of focus. Hypnosis can be used in therapy to bring about long-lasting change. Helping people to overcome many issues, such as anxiety. Despite the many myths surrounding hypnosis, it is a popular and effective therapy.

How do you use hypnosis as therapy?

The conscious mind is the rational decision-making part of our mind, and the subconscious is the emotional part of our mind; it holds all of our experiences, emotions, beliefs and desires. Hypnosis puts the conscious mind in a resting state, where it is still observant but resting. The subconscious mind becomes more receptive to communication, allowing changes to be made at a subconscious level. I work with your desire to change by using a combination of guided imagery, direct and indirect suggestions, analysis and mediation. Hypnotherapy is the therapeutic use of hypnosis. It can help create a therapeutic change in your thoughts, beliefs, values, feelings and behaviour.

What issues can hypnotherapy help? Hypnotherapy can be used to treat a whole range of thoughts, beliefs, feelings and behaviours effectively and relatively quickly. These include but are not limited to: · Anxiety · Depression · Low-self esteem · Relationship issues · Post-traumatic stress disorder · Habits and addictions · weight management and eating disorders · Sleep problems · Stress management · Low self-esteem · Phobias and fears · Trauma · Confidence · Mindset How many sessions do I need? Everyone is different, and the number of sessions depends on: · The complexity of the issue · Commitment and belief that changes will occur. · The therapeutic relationship between yourself and me. The initial consultation is a chance for us to get to know each other, and an assessment can be made on how many sessions may be needed. I generally recommend three sessions to start. The number of sessions may change if the issue which is initially presented evolves as more complex. When this happens, techniques are used to help uncover the underlying reason for the problem. Is hypnotherapy an effective therapy? From my personal experience, it has been life-changing. I have changed my thinking at a subconscious level. I have quietened my inner critics; I have dealt with events from my past that shaped my beliefs about myself. I have moved past my anxiety and depression. From my professional experience - I have seen my clients move past anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. They have moved past limiting beliefs and thoughts they had about themselves. They have overcome fears and phobias. They have achieved confidence in their ability to do whatever they wish to do. Hypnotherapy focuses on the future and who you want to be, and the changes you would like to make to your beliefs, thoughts and behaviours. Depending on the issue, you may need to look at past events to remove the emotions and beliefs surrounding the event/s. The difference between talking therapy and hypnotherapy is that you don't need to keep revisiting and reliving these events. A study by an American health magazine states: "Psychoanalysis: 38% recovery after 600 sessions. Behaviour Therapy: 72% recovery after 22 sessions. Hypnotherapy: 93% recovery after 6 sessions." “Thank you so much to Hannah for all the support this last year! She has helped me regain control of my feelings and emotions, and life feels so much more manageable than it was this time last year when I first contacted her. Hannah is an amazing hypnotherapist and is gentle, kind, non-judgemental and understanding. The techniques she taught me will last a lifetime and no matter what life throws at me I am certain I will not return to the levels of anxiety and low mood I was experiencing. I highly recommend her services for dealing with anxiety, depression, phobias/fears and stress in general.” — J Hooper (Google review)
